For years, it has been complained at every opportunity that the desired level cannot be reached in animal production due to insufficient feed resources. The studies and efforts made also demonstrate the search for this issue. Meadow pastures, our most important source of roughage, have come to the stage of being sold out due to excessive and untimely grazing. In order to reduce the grazing density in these areas, forage crops agriculture has been emphasized. In order to increase animal production, our native breeds with low yield potential have gradually decreased.

When the total roughage requirement of animals is considered at the country level, it is reported that the part obtained from meadow, pasture and forage plants is at the level of 25.98%, while the part that is met from the residues of field agriculture is at the level of 43.51%. It is possible to obtain maximum efficiency from high-yielding culture breeds with a good feeding.
